Exit Slips
Outcomes Met: Grade 5 Math 5.N.3., Grade 5 Science 5-1-12
Exit slips can be used in any content area course or subject. Exit slips are designed to help students to reflect on what they are learning and to show how or what they think about the the new information that they are learning about. Exit slips are usually given at the end of a class. 1. Give students a key concept or idea that you want students to think about. 2. A few minutes before the end of class (ex. 10 minutes), hand out an exit slip (or get students to take out a piece of paper) and have them respond to the prompts on the exit slip hand out (or you can come up with your own prompts). You may also want to orally state the prompts so that you address the auditory learners. 3. Once students have filled out the exit slip, collect them. You may also want to use a blog, todaysmeet, create a podcast, or other forums to complete an exit slip. 4. At the beginning of the next lesson, address any questions or comments that arose from the exit slips.
