Brainstorming
Outcomes Met: Grade 5 Science 5-1-02, Grade 5 Math 5.N.8.
Brainstorming is a strategy that is great for activating prior knowledge or for reviewing. Brainstorming can be done individually, in small groups, or as a whole class. It can take the form of a word splash or even sentences. For example, in math, you could have students brain storm all the places that they would find decimals. 1. Decide whether this will be an individual, group, or whole class activity. 2. Give students the topic. 3. Give students a time allotment (5-15 minutes). 4. Have student brainstorm everything they know about the topic |
